Brief Project Description

Installation of approximately 10,000LF of new carbon steel fuel transfer pipeline including containment piping on underground piping, cathodic protection, leak detection and pig launch and receiving station. Replacement of outdated transfer pumps and receipt filters, decommission and demolish in place approximately 10,000LF of existing fuel transfer pipeline and appurtenant piping. Electrical upgrades to the existing electrical system, concrete paving and necessary site improvements. Approximately two-thirds of the Underground Pipeline was installed through end of runway restricted air space requiring operating height / equipment movement limitations and FAA Aeronautical Space Study (ASN) and FAA Approval / Tyndall Airfield Operations Approval. Environmental considerations and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permitting was required for various aspects of the project to include removal and disposal of contaminated soils, underground pipeline installation through wetlands and wetlands restoration, multiple permitting requirements for dewatering discharge through known petroleum contamination plumes, suspect contamination areas, and non-contaminated areas. Also included was permitting for the removal and disposal of asbestos containing materials (ACM) transite roof panels and dealing with existing lead-based paint.
